In the world of diving respect is accorded based upon skill and demeanor.
Only people who can demonstrate those skills and qualities can earn the
title of Dive Professional. Are you interested in becoming one of the most
respected members of the dive community? Then this course is the first
step in your journey.
Being a Divemaster can be an exciting and rewarding experience. You will
be helping people having fun diving and help insure that they have a safe
diving experience.
And that’s not all! You will be provided
opportunities to aid in teaching Basic SCUBA classes to gain valuable
experience as a Divemaster. Skills you perfect as a Divemaster are
essential in becoming a SCUBA Instructor.
If you are interested in a career in diving or
just teaching a few classes, this is the first step. The SCUBA leadership role in diving is responsible,
social and fun. You can even make it a career!
However, this is a very challenging course. I set the bar very high by
following the NAUI standard, "Would I entrust you with the lives of my
family?" When I put my name on your card, there will be no doubt in
anyone's mind that you ARRRR a Dive Professional!
Course length: It varies upon the individual. You must help out
with two classes, complete required skills, and demonstrate general
competence. It will take a minimum of two months or could be stretched out
over a year, depending on your availability and the availability of
classes.

- Textbooks: $209
- NAUI annual membership dues: $145

Prerequisites:
Age: 18
Diver Certification: Rescue Diver, NAUI Master Diver
(or pass test), Current CPR/First Aid/O2 administration
Health: Proof of medical clearance to dive
in the past 12 months.
100 logged dives or 50 logged dives and extensive water
experience, i.e lifeguard training.
Skill Prerequisites:
- 450 yards free swim non-stop using any stroke in
10 minutes, then swim additional 25 yards using any resting stroke.
- 900 yards snorkel swim in 18 minutes
- Presentation quality scuba skills
- Swim 25 yards underwater without
push off
- 50 yard diver tow
- Tread water for 20 minutes
